Burt's Bees Beeswax & Banana Hand Creme!
21:30
It's currently winter-time here in the Land Down Under, which brings an abundance of things; scarves, cardigans, rain, chilly winds and... dry, cracked hands!
Due to my oily skin, I'm lucky in the sense that my hands don't get in too bad of a condition, but they do get a little rough around the edges at times.
I've been looking for a hand-cream for aaaaages now, and by ages I mean months and months and months. I'd heard all about the Burt's Bees hand creams and how jaw-droppingly amazing they are, but for some absurdly bizarre reason I never went and picked one up! Until a few weeks ago...
And I have to say, I have a bit of a sad review for this one; it's the Burt's Bees Beeswax and Banana Hand Creme.
The first thing I noticed when opening the lid to this is the pungent banana smell. Now, I'm a fan of bananas but this scent is a bit too much for me! Especially because my nostrils seem to really pick out the artificiality of the banana-ness. A whiff of it here and there is manageable, however, the smell lingers way too long for comfort and I will explain why in a minute!
The packaging is thick and sturdy, being a glass jar with a screw-on tin (I assume) lid, but definitely not handbag friendly. It's a bit too heavy and large to be carting around with you everywhere, so it's more suited to a bed-side table or desk.
The texture is super thick and creamy! You really only need a tiny weeny dollop of this and it will go far. But, it's also quite sticky, which makes spreading it a bit of a hard feat. The stickiness of it I learned the hard way! I put it on at night when I was all tucked up in bed and all the little bits of fluff from my quilt got stuck to my hands! This got a little on my nerves towards the end, I must say!
Now, I must also mention that the cream takes AGES to sink in (which is why the banana scent lingers for so long)! I don't know if it's because my hands aren't in a desperate need to be plumped up and hydrated, but it took over an hour and a half to sink away, where my hands still remained a bit sticky.
The next morning when I woke up, my hands were relatively soft, but not as much as I had hoped.
Due to the result, I will continue to use up the rest of this product (also because it cost me about $22!) but I definitely won't re-purchase. I might delve into one of their other hand creams or explore elsewhere and see how I go!
Have you tried the Burt's Bees Beeswax and Banana Hand Creme before? Did you like it, or were you a bit disappointed like myself?
xx
